A city where late is expensive

Detroit freight is not like general freight. A lot of it feeds plants and suppliers that run on tight schedules, where a shipment arriving in the wrong window does not just inconvenience somebody, it stops work. When that happens the cost of the delay dwarfs the cost of the shipment.

That is why expedited and hot shot service exists, and it is why a carrier who quietly misses a window and hopes nobody notices does not last long here.

What we run into and out of Detroit

Parts and components moving between suppliers and plants. Urgent replacements when something failed and production is waiting on it. Packaged goods and equipment moving out to the rest of the country. Standard truckload freight in both directions.

Detroit is also a major gateway, which means a lot of freight passing through the region has a domestic leg on either side of it. Those legs are ordinary work for us.

Being close is the whole point

There is no trick to being reliable in Detroit. You either have a truck that can be there in the window or you do not. Sitting in Ypsilanti, half an hour west on I-94, means that for a lot of urgent calls the answer is yes.

It also means that when something changes on the road, whoever is telling you about it knows what I-94 through Dearborn looks like at four in the afternoon.
